Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Event Schedule Events run from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM every month at these locations: 2nd Saturday, Sacramento - Pet Food Express 3rd Saturday, Modesto - Strand Hardware Store 4th Saturday, Roseville - Pet Food Express Please visit the GCGSR Rescue Page for specific address information. All of our dogs are in foster homes and not in one single kennel location. Adoption events is the best way to meet several of our dogs at once. Reggie is a super handsome fluffy boy. Although we don’t know exactly what breed mix he is, we do know he was definitely in need of rescue. Reggie is about 12-18 months old and about 50lbs. He is now crate trained, rides in the car nicely, is housebroken, and while not formally trained he is easy to have around and is good on leash. Reggie gets along with the male and female shepherds in his foster home. He likes to play but seems to prefer chase to rough and tumble play. Reggie would like a home with a family that will include him in daily activities as well as dog buddies to continue showing him the ropes. Level 2 Cats and small furry critters unknown. (Adoption Process) We operate within a reasonable driving distance from the Greater Sacramento area, the Central Valley down to Merced, and Lake Tahoe. A reasonable driving distance is determined by where one of our volunteers is willing to drive within our areas of service. That means we don't adopt out of our area, to Southern California, or out of state. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
