Description

Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). Meet Elliot Elliot is a handsome 10-month-old fawn boxer with all the goofy energy, enthusiasm, and personality you’d expect from a young boxer boy! This playful pup loves other dogs and currently lives with a 4-month-old female boxer who keeps him busy wrestling and playing. Elliot is great with kids and currently lives with children ranging from 4 to 18 years old. He’s housetrained, bell trained, and walks pretty well on leash for such a young, energetic guy. He also attends doggy daycare regularly to burn off energy and socialize with other dogs — something he absolutely loves! Like many boxer puppies, Elliot is still a work in progress. He struggles with separation anxiety and does not enjoy being crated. When left alone too long, he can become destructive both inside and outside the home, so he will need a patient family committed to helping him continue building confidence and structure. He’s usually left alone for about 3 hours at a time and does best with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and companionship. Elliot was brought home as an 8-week-old puppy and was recently neutered just two weeks ago. He’s now looking for a forever family that understands the boxer breed, appreciates puppy energy, and is ready to help this sweet boy grow into the amazing adult dog he’s meant to be. Located in NY. Available in the Northeast (NY, NJ, CT, RI, VT, NH, PA, DE, MD, NoVA) Apply to adopt: .chboxerrescue/adopt

Boxer

A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:

The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
