Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Meet ROOSTER (formerly Ace from Harris County)! Can you tell we love Top Gun? At this point we officially have a Maverick, Goose, AND Rooster Rooster is about 5 months old and is most likely some sort of shepherd mix… honestly your guess is as good as ours, but one thing we do know is this boy is STINKIN cute. This sweet baby was kenneled alone at Harris County just waiting for someone to notice him and give him love. He was actually one of the very first dogs we took out to temp test during our pull and he was absolutely perfect. Rooster is the kind of puppy that instantly makes you smile. He’s goofy, loving, full of personality, and guaranteed to keep you laughing. You can already tell this boy is SMART and eager to learn. He loves other dogs and would have so much fun with a playful dog sibling, but he definitely doesn’t need another dog because he loves people just as much. He just wants someone to love him and include him in life. Rooster is going to grow into one AWESOME dog and we would love nothing more than to get this sweet baby into a foster or forever home soon

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
