Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. These four adorable siblings came to us from Floyd County Animal Shelter, where they had been growing up waiting for a chance at a forever home. Born November 1, 2025, this litter includes two boys and two girls. The shelter listed them as Pit Bull mixes, but we definitely see some Boxer or Shepherd features mixed in too. They are sweet, social puppies who love attention and have done great with other dogs. They also passed their cat test well. These babies are playful, affectionate, and ready to start the next chapter of their lives with families of their own. The adoption fee for puppies under 6 months of age is $265. If the puppy is too young or small to be fixed there will be a $75 spay/neuter rebate form provided. They currently have at least 1 puppy shot, flea preventative, heartworm preventative, and are microchipped with lifetime registration ($13). A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
