Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Kacey and a volunteer went on a a lovely daytrip! Here is the report: Kacey is so easy to handle, calm, and a big sweetie. She was super eager to get into my car and settled in the back seat right away. She did amazing while I got gas and drove on the freeway, and waited for me to give the okay to come out of the car. She enjoyed a pup cup and was super clean! At my house, she did great meeting my boyfriend. She seemed to be more interested in exploring every room than coming over for pets, but I noticed her welcoming attention when I or others would get lower to the ground. She will take treats but doesn't seem too treat-motivated, and I haven't quite gotten her to sit for me on command. She is extremely interested in human food, though. Inside, she didn't have any accidents which does make me believe she is potty-trained. At Petsmart, Kacey was super calm and easy to walk around the store. She met some of the workers and seemed to really win them over! She was good around other dogs and seemed overall uninterested in meeting them. We walked around that shopping center and she did great around small children and a variety of people. Overall, Kacey was such a good girl for our little outing and could have a lot of flexibility in who could adopt her due to her easy-going personality. Because she is a bit older, she is quite calm, even for a husky. She didn't bark at all. Please come and meet this beautiful blue-eyed girl to give her a last loving home to live out her last years. She will give you all the love she has. To make an appointment, go to yoloshelter/dogs, or email adoptyoloshelter.

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
