Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Meet Lizzie This adorable little pup came from a hoarding situation but was fortunate to be rescued while still very young. At one point, Lizzie’s owner had 51 Chihuahuas living in a small trailer. Thankfully, concerned family members stepped in to help address a situation that had spiraled out of control, and the number of dogs has now been reduced to 23. Worthy Dog became aware of the situation through one of our vet partners. We sponsor the spay/neuter clinic that has been fixing the dogs at no cost to stop the cycle and prevent the numbers from growing again. So far, we’ve taken in three of the pups from the property, including Lizzie, and plan to help more as space allows. Other local rescues have also stepped in to help. Despite her rough start, Lizzie is an incredibly sweet, happy, healthy, and well-behaved little dog who has adjusted to home life with surprising ease. Her foster mom says she is hands down one of the easiest fosters she’s ever had. Lizzie is social, affectionate, and gets along wonderfully with both people and dogs. She currently lives with a mix of playful pups and grumpy seniors and has blended into the pack seamlessly. She would LOVE a playful dog buddy, but she’s also respectful of calmer dogs and could easily thrive as an only dog soaking up all the attention herself. This goofy little girl loves toys (which she proudly hoards in one special corner of the couch ), zooming around the yard, rolling in the grass, snuggling with her humans, and admiring herself in mirrors whenever possible. Honestly, if we were that cute, we probably would too. Lizzie has excellent house manners and is doing great with potty training, crate training, and learning basic commands. She’s eager to please, naturally checks in with her people outside, and has not been a flight risk at all. She does still need a little work on leash skills and tends to zig-zag when excited, but her foster mom is already working on it. Lizzie is incredibly adaptable and would likely thrive in many different home environments, with another dog, as a first dog, or even attending doggy daycare because she’s so social and friendly.
