Irving is a sweet-natured puppy who is learning that the world is a pretty great place. Since arriving in foster care, Irving has been settling in nicely and growing more confident every day. Like many puppies experiencing so many new sights, sounds, and experiences, he can be a little cautious at first. But once he feels comfortable, his gentle personality begins to shine. One thing we’ve already learned about Irving is how much he enjoys the company of others. He’s currently living with a resident dog who has been helping him navigate his new surroundings, and he’s been happily taking cues from his canine friend as he explores and builds confidence. He’s also doing well with children and has been enjoying spending time with the kids in his foster home. Irving is the kind of puppy who seems to appreciate having a friend by his side, whether that’s a person or another dog. As he settles in, we’re watching his confidence grow and his playful puppy personality emerge a little more each day. Like all puppies, Irving is curious, learning, and discovering new things every day. He is looking for a family committed to providing the training, socialization, structure, patience, and love every puppy needs to grow into a wonderful adult dog. Irving and his littermates got an unusual start to life. They were found living beneath a shed in rural Texas, where their devoted mama did everything she could to keep them safe. Thankfully, a caring local family stepped in to help, giving the puppies a safe place to grow until they were ready to begin their journey to brighter futures. Today, Irving is safe, loved, and ready to find a family of his very own. We can’t wait to see his confidence continue to blossom as he discovers just how big and exciting the world can be. Could Irving be the perfect addition to your family? IMPORTANT: This dog has not yet been altered. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
