Description
Dog Breed: Husky. Meet Mika Mika is a loving, affectionate girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She absolutely adores people and wants nothing more than to be close to her humans soaking up love and attention. She’s active, smart, and eager to please, making her highly trainable and a wonderful companion for the right home. Mika is already potty trained and crate trained, and she thrives with consistency and structure. She learns quickly and loves having guidance and routine. She has done well with larger dogs, especially calm or passive personalities, as she can be more dominant herself. Because of her high prey drive, Mika should not be placed in a home with small dogs, cats, or other small animals. Mika is still working on her leash manners and can become very excited and distracted outdoors, so continued training will help her succeed. She’s also a bit of an escape artist, meaning she’ll do best with an owner committed to daily exercise and mental stimulation, or a home with a secure, well-fenced yard where she can safely burn off energy. Mika would thrive in an active home that can provide structure, consistency, and lots of affection. In return, you’ll get a loyal, cuddly, fun-loving dog who will form a deep bond with her people.

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
