Here’s Your Quick Peek: Goldie is a tiny toy poodle and a puppy mill survivor whose past left her shy and cautious, but beneath that fear is a playful, mischievous little spirit waiting to shine. She’s learning that love is safe, toys are fun, and people can be trusted. Must have: First and foremost, another small dog (no exception), must sleep in human bed with you, A patient, gentle adopter who understands puppy mill survivors and can give her time to adjust. Exercise: Moderate — short play sessions and gentle walks with other dogs. Best with: A calm home with another friendly dog to help her learn confidence. Not ideal for: Loud homes, impatient adopters, or families expecting instant affection. Energy level: Moderate — quiet at first, then playful and curious once comfortable. Goldie takes time to warm up, but once she does, she becomes silly, affectionate, and full of personality. She loves playing with other dogs, has started enjoying toys, and has a hilarious habit of stealing socks and proudly parading them around. Good with dogs: Yes — loves them and learns from them. An absolute must in her life. Good with kids: No — too fearful. Cats: Likely fine with slow introductions. Right now, she avoids cats. Fun fact: Goldie is a tiny sock thief — she’ll steal one just to make you laugh. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Want updates and ways to help? Poodle (Toy)
A.K.A.: Caniche Miniatura, Dwarf Poodle, Miniature Poodle, Pudel Zwerg, Kleinpuddel
Overview:
The Toy Poodle is a captivating and intelligent breed, originating in Germany as a water retriever before being miniaturized in France. Physically, they are known for their distinctive, dense, and curly single-layer coat, which is virtually non-shedding, making them a popular choice for individuals with allergies. They possess an elegant, well-proportioned build, bright, dark eyes, and a proud, confident gait. In terms of temperament, Toy Poodles are remarkably smart, alert, and highly trainable, eager to please their owners. They thrive on companionship and mental stimulation, often excelling in canine sports like obedience and agility. Their adaptable nature makes them well-suited for various living situations, including apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise and mental engagement. They are generally good with respectful children and can integrate well into families. While generally robust, like many purebreds, they can be predisposed to certain health conditions such as patellar luxation, progressive retinal atrophy, and Addison's disease, highlighting the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
