Please note — if you want to skip the text and go straight to the application, you can find the link here: .carolinapoodlerescue/application/ Here’s Your Quick Peek: Oliver is a senior miniature poodle with a gentle soul and a big heart. He’s blind, fragile, and looking for a calm, loving home where he can spend his golden years being cuddled and adored. He’s vocal about wanting affection and happiest when he’s attached to his person — truly a lap dog who wants to be loved all day. Must have: A quiet, stable home with someone who is home most of the time or will take him everywhere. Exercise: Very low — short leash walks only, as Oliver cannot see and bumps into things. Best with: A calm adult household; could coexist with another gentle senior dog. Not ideal for: Young children or active dogs who might knock him over. Energy level: Very low — prefers naps, cuddles, and gentle affection. Oliver has had several health scares and is considered medically fragile. His cataracts will not be surgically treated due to age and overall health. He’s blind but navigates familiar spaces well and loves routine. He doesn’t play or need much activity — just a warm lap, soft bed, and consistent love. Good with dogs: Only calm, older dogs; easily bullied by others. Good with kids: We would not recommend Oliver to a home with children due to his age and health. Cats: Unknown. Fun fact: Oliver will “talk” to you when he wants cuddles — he’s a sweet, vocal senior who just wants to be loved and cherished for the rest of his days. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Overview:
The Miniature Poodle, a charming and intelligent companion, originated in Germany as a water retriever before being refined in France. They are renowned for their elegant appearance, characterized by a distinctive curly coat (often requiring regular grooming to prevent matting), long muzzle, and expressive dark eyes. Standing typically between 10 to 15 inches tall and weighing 10 to 15 pounds, they are a compact yet sturdy breed. Temperamentally, Miniature Poodles are known for their high intelligence, making them highly trainable and eager to please. They are generally lively, affectionate, and can be quite playful, thriving on interaction with their families. Their adaptable nature makes them well-suited for apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. They are often excellent with children and other pets when properly socialized. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of breed-specific concerns such as progressive retinal atrophy, luxating patella, and Addison's disease. With their captivating looks and bright minds, the Miniature Poodle makes a delightful and devoted family member.
