Text Toffee to 864-441-9075 for my full story, photos and videos - we'll send everything you need to know! Here's Your Quick Peek: Toffee is a sweet little yorkie with little life experience. Born into breeding she has lived a life of solitude and is looking for a gentle and kind family to blossom with. She can be shy but give her sometime and she comes around and shows you a more playful energetic side of herself. Must have: An owner who understands what managing a dog with a special medical need means. Toffee has heartworms - a very light load - and our vet is recommending and monitoring Toffee on what is called the "slow kill" method. Toffee gets Triheart or Heartguard twice per month and then retested every six months to insure she is moving to negative heartworm status. Exercise: Moderate, Toffee LOVES to play outside in a fenced in yard. Best with: Dogs her size that will play with her! Not ideal for: Large dogs, loud constantly changing environments. Energy level: Hobby athlete, she is no Olympic medalist, but she LOVES to play! Toffee is looking for a family to help her come into her full potential. Right now, we see a slightly timid girl who wants so badly to play and run and act silly. She needs guidance and a fun family that will show her that is a-okay! She loves other dogs, she loves to play and we know once she is more comfortable with handling she will love cuddles. Good with dogs: YES! Good with kids: We think with gentle older kids that understand how to handle small timid dog Toffee would love running around with them once she settles in! Cats: Yes! Fun fact: Toffee has a silly side that she shows once she settles in. You may not see it when you first meet her but trust us! She is a goof ball extraordinaire! Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
