Description

Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300. Hello future family, my name is Mama Ryder! I’m a 2-year-old Lab mix weighing about 40 pounds, though I could still stand to gain a few pounds after raising my puppies. My 8 adorable Paw Patrol pups have all found their forever homes, and now it’s finally my turn to find mine. My foster mom says I’m shy at first, but don’t let that scare you away. Shy dogs often form the deepest bonds and have so much love to give once they feel safe and comfortable. Right now, I live with 3 large dogs, a cat, and two young kids, and I do wonderfully with all of them. Since it takes me a little time to warm up, having a confident dog friend in the home would really help me come out of my shell. I love playing chase and wrestling with my dog buddies, and I even try to play with the cat—though she doesn’t seem too interested! One of my favorite things is going for car rides. Once I’m in the car, I’m calm, quiet, and easy to travel with. I also have so many great qualities to offer my future family: I’m fully house trained, crate trained, and walk nicely on a leash. All I need is a patient, understanding family willing to help me continue building confidence and becoming the very best version of myself. If you’re looking for a well-behaved, gentle, and incredibly loyal companion to add to your family, I just might be your perfect match. Apply to meet me at bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

Overview:

The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
