Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Hi, I’m Alfredo I’m a 1 year old red heeler mix and about 45 pounds of love, cuddles, and goofy personality. I can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give me a minute and I’ll be your best friend forever I LOVE other dogs big or small, and I do great with cats too I’m also crate trained and about 95% potty trained. Some of my favorite things are toys, chew toys especially, treats, and going on walks. I walk amazing on a leash! I can get a little nervous when the leash first goes on, or when I have to try something new, but with a little encouragement and a treat or two, I learn super fast. I really just want someone patient who will help me build confidence and remind me the world isn’t so scary. I’m a sweet boy looking for a family who will love me forever. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
