Description

Dog Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Hello! My name is Dallas and I'm looking for my new family. I'm an almost 5 year old, neutered boy, with a microchip and all my vaccinations updated. I'm heartworm negative and very healthy.....except I just need to lose a little more weight! I've lost 4 lbs since being at my foster home, but I really could stand to lose a few more. My foster family takes me for long walks through the fields using an e-collar. Foster Dad says I have amazing recall if not on an e-collar. I love running with the pack and sniffing everything. I am housebroken, lovable, loving and smart! I get very excited around new people, especially women! I'm very comfortable around other dogs but could easily adapt as a single dog in a loving household. I love to be in the same room with my people and will wait by the door until they come home. I'm not too sure about little people or kids, but older respectful kids might be OK. I am not food aggressive but I do love mealtime! Foster Dad also says I am not destructive in any way. I have not chewed or destroyed anything in the house. If I sound like the perfect boy for you, please fill out an adoption application on our website at .nbran. I am being fostered in Georgia and can be transported up to 1400 miles via our Canine Railroad. My adoption fee is $350 to cover the cost of vetting and to help other rescues like me in need. For more information, please email Denise at brittsnbitsgmail.

Overview:

The Brittany is a beloved and versatile gun dog, originating from the Brittany province of France in the 17th century. These medium-sized dogs are instantly recognizable by their athletic build, often appearing leggy and agile, with a dense, flat or wavy coat that comes in orange and white, or liver and white. Their intelligent and eager-to-please nature makes them incredibly trainable and responsive. Temperamentally, Brittanys are known for being friendly, energetic, and affectionate, making them excellent companions for active families. While their moderate size might suggest apartment living, their high energy levels and need for regular exercise mean they thrive best in homes with a yard or access to plenty of outdoor space. Generally a healthy breed, they can be predisposed to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and sometimes epilepsy, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. With proper training and socialization, a Brittany will undoubtedly enrich the lives of its devoted family.
