Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Romeo, a sweet 6 year old Yorkie mix weighing just 8 pounds. He can be a little nervous when meeting new people or adjusting to a new environment, but once he feels comfortable, his loving personality shines through. Romeo enjoys following his person from room to room and is happiest when curled up beside them on the couch. Romeo loves people and gets along well with dogs, cats, and small children. He may need a few days to settle into a new home, but with patience and reassurance, he quickly becomes a happy and devoted companion. He is the perfect lap dog and would love nothing more than to snuggle with his new owner, including at bedtime. Overall, Romeo is a wonderful little boy with a gentle heart and a cheerful spirit. He is ready to bring love, companionship, and plenty of cuddles to his forever home. If you are interested in adopting, please visit the I.C.A.R.E. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
