Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Zero, a 2 year old Yorkie mix weighing just 6 pounds. This sweet little guy can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, he becomes an incredibly loving and loyal companion. He enjoys playing with toys, spending time with his people, and curling up on the couch for snuggles. Zero gets along well with cats, dogs, and small children, making him a great fit for many different types of families. He is currently working on his potty training and continues to make progress. Whether he is the only pet in the home or part of a busy household filled with children and other animals, Zero is happy as long as he is surrounded by love and attention. Zero thrives on companionship and would do especially well with someone who works from home or a stay at home parent. He is a wonderful lap dog who loves being close to his people, and his affectionate nature makes him a joy to be around. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
