Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Meet Laurel a 1 1/2 year old cattle dog heeler mix. She is the sweetest dog in the shelter but takes time to warm up. She is shy with new people but with a calm and patient hand she does come around. Laurel has met with some of the dogs at the shelter but she is so nervous that she just tries to get a way from them, we would suggest that she is with a confident dog who can be patient and leave her alone while she adjust. Laurel is also nervous around cats so when they hit at her she will sit next to you. Laurel would like a calm quiet home as loud noises scare her. Take this pretty girl on a walk and you will certainly fall in love.Give the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at infoawlwarsaw if you have any questions about me! If not, stop by the shelter at 1048 S 325 E in Pierceton, IN 46562 to look at me! No appointments necessary!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
