Description
Dog Breed: Fox Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. Meet Corky and his bonded brother Benji. Corky is a 3‑year‑old Terrier mix with all the fun, bounce, and charm of this duo. He loves greeting everyone — big or small — and brings a joyful spark wherever he goes. He gets along well with other dogs, but he cannot live with cats. Corky does prefer to keep his food to himself, so he’ll need to be fed separately. Both brothers walk beautifully on leash and adore being around people. They’re a sweet, social pair looking for a home where they can stay together and share their love with their new family. Corky & Benji's adoption fee is $175, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
