Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Shepherd / Mixed. Meet Arrow, this sweet 7 month old 43 lb.mixed breed is a sensitive boy with a playful and goofy side once he feels safe. He may be a bit shy and skittish when he first meets you, but with patience, kindness and a little time, Arrow blossoms into an incredibly loyal companion who will happily become your shadow. While he enjoys relaxing and cuddling with those he trusts, Arrow is also an active dog who needs regular walks, playtime, and mental stimulation to keep him happy. . Arrow is looking for a calm, patient home where he can settle in at his own pace. He'd probably do best with older kids or respectful children who understand he needs time and space to warm up. He does great in a crate and would love having one as his safe space in his new home. He is mostly potty trained and walks well on leash with encouragement. If you're willing to be patient and let this special boy settle in at his own pace, Arrow will reward you with endless loyalty, companionship, and love. Arrow is neutered, microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccines, flea, tick and heartworm prevention. He will be avaialbe for adoption on or after May 31st Paws Across Pittsburgh Springdale, PA KL#16182

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
