Meet Nella – Your Next Adventure Partner! We spent some time working with Nella, and all we can say is... WOW! This girl is incredibly smart and absolutely loves to learn. In less than 5 minutes, she learned to run right beside me, and she picked it up almost immediately! That kind of eagerness and intelligence is something special. So far, Nella knows: ✅ Come ✅ Place ✅ Sit ✅ Down ✅ Up ✅ Stay (still a work in progress) ✅ Learning Heel The speed at which she learns is truly impressive. She thrives on mental stimulation and enjoys having a job to do. Nella would be the perfect match for someone who wants an active companion and is interested in continuing her training. She would likely excel in activities such as agility, obedience, rally, hiking, running, or other dog sports. If you're searching for a loyal best friend who loves to learn and is ready to go wherever you go, Nella may be your perfect match. Nella is dog-friendly; however, she would need a proper meet-and-greet with any potential canine companions. She can become stressed when meeting new dogs, so we do not recommend dog parks for her exercise needs. Instead, Nella would thrive in a home with her own fenced yard or with a very active family committed to giving her plenty of exercise and enrichment. Overview:
The Australian Shepherd, despite its name, actually originated in the western United States during the 19th century, bred primarily for herding livestock on ranches. These striking dogs are medium-sized with a sturdy build, often sporting captivating merle coats (blue or red) and piercing blue, amber, or marbled eyes, sometimes with two different colors (heterochromia). Known for their exceptional intelligence and high energy, Aussies possess a strong work drive and thrive on having a "job" to do, whether it's agility, obedience, or extensive exercise. Their temperament is generally loyal, affectionate, and good-natured with their families, though they can be reserved with strangers. Due to their high exercise requirements and need for mental stimulation, they are best suited for active families or individuals with ample outdoor space and a commitment to training; apartment living is generally not ideal. Potential owners should also be aware of common health concerns like hip and elbow dysplasia and certain eye conditions, including Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA).
