Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (short coat). Location: Berryville, Virginia At 5–6 years old and a solid 60 lbs, Bowser has reached that wonderful stage of life where he knows exactly who he is. And who he is? A laid-back guy who enjoys hanging out with his people, chasing a ball, and claiming the couch. Bowser is the kind of dog who doesn’t need constant entertainment or excitement. He’s perfectly happy to spend the day lounging nearby, supervising household activities, and making sure his humans don’t get lonely. Now, let’s talk about his social life. Bowser has some strong opinions, and he’s not afraid to stick to them. He could happily live as your one and only dog, or with a single female dog companion. What he doesn’t enjoy is dog drama. With his self-appointed “hall monitor” tendencies, he likes to keep order and isn’t a fan of other dogs roughhousing or playing together. Both of his foster homes have had cats, and he’s done well with them. That said, any feline roommates should be confident cats who won’t be offended by a dog who introduces himself with a little more enthusiasm than necessary. When he’s not relaxing, Bowser’s favorite activity is fetch. Tennis ball? Soccer ball? Random ball-shaped object? He’s not picky. If it rolls, bounces, or can be thrown, he’s interested. A close second favorite? Car rides He LOVES riding shotgun and keeping you company. Bowser is house-trained, knows his basic commands, and is crate trained. However, if he knows you’re home while he’s in his crate, he may feel compelled to file a formal complaint—and he’s perfectly capable of voicing that opinion. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants to spend his days by your side, enjoy a game of fetch, and then settle in for a movie marathon on the couch, Bowser might be your perfect match. ❤️ Interested in Bowser? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
