Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Terrier / Mixed. Are you ready to have your mind blown and your skies brightened? Then let us introduce you to Aurora Borealis, the only cosmic phenomenon that fits perfectly on your living room couch! Aurora Borealis is a 5 year and 1 month old short haired Australian Cattle Dog mix. She currently weighs 39 pounds, making her a medium size dog. Aurora is a brilliant blend of brains and beauty. True to her herding roots, she is incredibly smart, a phenomenal listener, and always ready to play. She adores children and loves the company of other dogs, making her the ultimate social butterfly. Once she burns off her daily energy, she flips a switch and becomes completely relaxed, chill, and ready for a serious cuddle session. Aurora has not been introduced to cats, so it is unknown how she will be with them. Now, like many of us after a long winter, Aurora has been enjoying a few too many treats and needs to lose a few pounds. She is currently looking for a fitness partner who can help her trade the extra kibble for extra cardio. She is currently in the process of mastering her house, leash, and crate training, and she is making great progress every day with a few healthy rewards. The perfect family for Aurora Borealis would be active, loving, and patient. Because she is a brilliant herding mix, she thrives with people who can keep both her mind and her body engaged. If you are looking for a loyal, friendly, and joyful companion to light up your life, and help you hit your daily step goal, Aurora Borealis is ready to shine just for you! * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Aurora Borealis is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
