Description
Dog Breed: Terrier. Swirlie is a 4-month-old Min Pin mix who is equal parts adorable, quirky, and entertaining. At about 12 pounds now and expected to stay under 25 pounds when fully grown, this little red-coated pup packs a whole lot of personality into a small package. In the best possible way, Swirlie is a complete weirdo, and everyone who meets her falls a little bit in love with her unique charm. While she's technically a Miniature Pinscher mix, her foster family suspects there may be a little Italian Greyhound, kangaroo, gazelle, red deer, or even cat mixed in there somewhere! Swirlie has an impressive vertical leap and sometimes starts "running" with her back legs while still airborne, looking like a cartoon character winding up for takeoff. She also sports the adorable high-stepping "hackney gait" Min Pins are famous for. Swirlie was initially nervous when she arrived in her foster home, but within an hour she had settled in and was happily snuggling with her foster parents. She is naturally cautious around new people and prefers to be given space and time to warm up. If someone gets too close too quickly, she may react defensively, but once she feels comfortable, her sweet and affectionate personality shines through. This little girl loves toys, especially balls. Huge stuffed balls almost as big as she is? Perfect. Tiny squeaky balls that bounce unpredictably? Even better. Swirlie is crate trained and settles down quickly when it's time to rest. She's just beginning her potty-training journey and will need a patient family willing to continue teaching her good habits. Her exercise needs are moderate, a short daily walk and a fun play session are usually enough to keep her happy and satisfied. Swirlie got her name from the adorable swirls of fur on the back of her neck, and it suits her perfectly, especially when she twirls through the air during one of her spectacular jumps. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind companion who will fill your home with laughter, snuggles, and endless entertainment, Swirlie may be the perfect match. She promises years of love, amusement, and devotion to the lucky family that welcomes her home. If you are interested in Swirlie, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - pethavenmn/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/ The adoption fee is $550. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
