Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Are you looking for a walking buddy who is full of fun, personality, and just the right amount of goofy? Mabry might be your guy! Mabry is a joyful, happy-go-lucky boy who seems to make friends everywhere he goes. He is sweet, affectionate, and always excited to soak up attention from the volunteers—especially those big hugs he loves so much. This handsome boy has a social butterfly personality and a face that is pretty hard to resist. Mabry loves going for walks and does beautifully on a leash without pulling, making him a wonderful companion for trail adventures, neighborhood strolls, or just getting outside together. He is also an active young pup who would love a fenced yard where he can safely run, play, and burn off some of that puppy energy. At about 9-months-old (6/12/26), Mabry weighs around 50 pounds. He is eager to please, full of life, and ready to bring laughter, love, and plenty of entertainment to his forever family. Mabry is looking for a home that will enjoy his playful spirit, appreciate his affectionate heart, and give him the chance to grow into the wonderful companion he is meant to be. Could Mabry be the missing piece in your family? You can apply on line at .hsvawl by completing the Adoption Application on the home page.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
