Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Husky (short coat). Adoption Fee: 410.00. HARPER'S ADOPTERS MUST HAVE A FULLY FENCED YARD BECAUSE SHE'S NOT FULLY VACCINTED AND WON'T BE UNTIL 7/24. ADOPTERS MUST BE LOCATED IN THE DC/MD/N.VA AREA. Little Harper lost her home because her owner's landlord wouldn't allow her to stay. W e immediately jumped in to give her a safe place to land so she wouldn't end up in a shelter. We haven't had her long but so far, she's been an easy puppy, favoring her foster dad to the other family members and is oh, so sweet! We'll learn more about her as she spends more time with her foster family. Harper's DOB is 3/6/26. Harper's adopters will be required to sign a spay/neuter addendum (including paying a refundable $100 spay/neuter fee) and a training addendum as part of the adoption contract. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
