Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Now that weâve had our latest foster, Crocs, for a full week we wanted to provide an update. Crocs is doing great! Weâve learned that she absolutely loves to play, especially a game of fetch. Her favorite toy so far is a spiky squeaky ball, and she gets so excited when itâs time to play. Sheâs an incredibly sweet, affectionate girl with a fun, expressive personality. One of our favorite things about her is that sheâll sploot and stretch out to relax, which is absolutely adorable. Sheâs very animated, listens well, and has been a joy to spend time with. Her skin has improved significantly since weâve kept her on a non-chicken diet, and sheâs looking better every day. Weâre also helping her put on a little healthy weight. She does still have a little cough, mostly when she gets excited, but she doesnât have any nasal discharge or other symptoms of being sick and is otherwise doing great. Crocs is ready to find a loving forever home where she can continue to thrive. We know sheâs going to make a wonderful companion for a very lucky family! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
