Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Sparky was saved by me from the Downey, California, animal shelter, Seaaca. Sparky is a senior Border Collie. Sweet and calm. He's extremely healthy, spent 1,200 Vet bill with complete physical and bloodwork. He's not neutered. Sparky and his housemate, a beautiful Apricot Malinois German Shepherd, a 2-year-old female, were owner-surrendered. Both were on the list to be euthanized within days of each other. I'm not a rescuer or work with any animal groups. I'm the owner's mom and love animals. After seeing both of them from the Volunteer post on Instagram, it broke my heart. I saved both of them. Currently at our home in Palm Desert, California. They love each other. Both sweet and smart. Both need to be spayed and neutered. My Prayer would be adopter to adopt both together. Farm or Ranch in a cooler climate. Too hot in Coachella for these breeds. Macanita is a stunning Malinois in person. I have them both posted on AdoptaPet. I have networked nonstop for both of them. Reach out to 40 rescuers and organizations. Only 2 got back to me. I can't keep them. Thought my community of animal folks would help out. They are busy saving other dogs from our local kill shelter. I would really appreciate help. I have a dying mom who is 90 in hospice. We have 3 small dogs and 1 cat. My plate is too full. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
