This lovable boy brings smiles everywhere he goes with his charming personality and affectionate spirit. He walks beautifully on leash and will sometimes stop mid-walk just to check in with you—or better yet, offer one of his famous bear hugs. Goofy has a special gift for making people feel loved, supported, and completely at ease. If you're looking for a best friend whose presence makes every day a little brighter, Goofy is your guy. A note from his Rescue Buddy: Goofy is a sweet and loving dog eager to have a caring family adopt him. He loves going on long walks and exploring all of the great hiking trails Westchester has to offer. Additionally, Goofy is a great running partner. To cool off, Goofy loves swimming in any lakes or rivers. Despite his high energy, Goody loves lying on your lap watching TV or just relaxing. Goofy is a great dog that will always be happy as long as his owner is happy. Furthermore, he loves to jump and hug all the people around him. Goofy is friendly with other dogs, wagging his tail and not barking or getting aggressive. Additionally, when any bikes or other hikers pass by, he doesn’t react at all, solely focusing on keeping his owner happy. He knows how to sit and knows the word “drop it” in case he ever picks up an unappetizing object. The Rescue is open 7 days a week for you to come and meet our pets! Walk-ins are welcome! All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
