Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Available for Pre-Adoption Only: Adopters must be prepared to commit to and finalize the adoption before meeting their new puppy. Puppies will be available for pickup on June 29th. Root Beer is a happy, adventurous puppy who lives up to his name with a bubbly personality and a high-energy zest for life! He love a good car ride and this smart boy is always eager to explore every corner of the yard. He is highly food-motivated, making him a quick study who is ready to learn new commands and tricks with the help of his favorite puppy treats. This social pup is fantastic with just about everyone! He absolutely loves kids of all ages, is completely respectful around cats, and gets along wonderfully with medium to large dogs. Root Beer currently lives with his brothers and senior dogs, enjoying a vocal, high-energy play style that includes plenty of wrestling, games of tug-of-war, and chewing on his favorite dog toys. He does not require a crate and is a quiet dog who rarely barks unless he gets super excited during playtime. Root Beer would thrive best in an active household that can keep up with his fun-loving nature. Because he loves company and settles down quickly after a good play session, he would be a perfect match for first-time dog owners, families with children, or homes with other playful pets. If you are looking for an affectionate, cuddly companion to join you on daily adventures, Root Beer is ready to melt your heart! This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: .sandypawsrescue. PLEASE READ: • If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this. • All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date. • Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments. Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation. For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: .sandypawsrescue. The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
