She’s affectionate, playful, and gentle, with a polite, easygoing personality that makes her a joy to work with. Must have: A fenced yard; an active home; someone patient with leash training. Exercise: Moderate — daily walks, yard time, and play sessions. Best with: Adults or families; homes with another friendly dog OR as an only dog with plenty of human attention. Not ideal for: Homes with small, pushy dogs; people wanting a low‑energy couch‑only dog. Energy level: Medium — playful, curious, and ready for adventure, but settles nicely. Sauvignon loves people, enjoys toys, and is confident with large dogs. She may bark when excited. She’s crate trained and still learning leash manners. She’s shy at first but warms up quickly and becomes affectionate and goofy once she trusts you. Good with dogs: Yes — especially large dogs. Good with kids: Unknown — likely best with older, respectful children. Cats: Unknown. Fun fact: Sauvignon is known as one of the sweetest, most polite dogs at the farm — gentle, goofy, and always ready to follow you around with a wagging tail. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
