Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Bluebeard is people friendly, kid friendly, and gets along with dogs under the right leadership and structure. Although he is 7 years old, he is up for mini adventures and just relaxing at home. He is a guy that can get easily overstimulated/aroused, so someone who is willing to learn how to give him structure, boundaries, and most importantly have fun with him in a way that is fulfilling to him will help him thrive. He is a great self entertainer, but still needs fulfilling interaction with his human every day. He is currently in a training program with DoveK9 LLC and Every Single Day Dog Training LLC to help with his leash reactivity and sound sensitivity. He has made BIG progress in learning how to handle his emotions when he’s scared, over stimulated, over aroused, or frustrated. He is crate trained, tether trained (to help him settle), exposed to different environments, knows how to self regulate, and obedience trained: sit, down, place, food luring, engagement. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
