Description
Dog Breed: Beagle. Adoption Fee: $350.00. Biscuit is very friendly and super playful. He is a ball of energy and will need canine playmate(s) and would probably love kids to roughhouse with. We have observed him interacting with children and there is definitely good chemistry there! He is cute as can be, and smart too. He very quickly mastered the doggie door and knows how to fetch. He follows his foster mom around the house, and will hang with her outside too... except if he gets distracted with toys. Biscuit LOVES playing with his toys and shares well with the other dogs in the house. He is good on leash and is doing well with housetraining, as long as he is taken out regularly. Foster mom has been rewarding his good behavior and he's really catching on. During the day Biscuit and his doggy friends are sometimes in a gated room with their beds and water, but also he is sometimes crated when left alone. He fusses a little. However, with a treat he settles nicely. At night he sleeps in his crate ...or a dog bed in his foster mom's bedroom ...or sometimes snuggles with her in her bed. Biscuit is dreaming of his happily ever after where he gets lots of love and cuddles. Biscuit is heartworm positive, ready for his treatment and should be ready to go on sleepover by mid June.

Overview:
The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
