Winston is a 9-year-old, approximately 12 lb Yorkie with the looks and spirit of a dog half his age. Winston loves to play and is always up for a game of fetch, chewing on his favorite toys and bones, exploring the backyard, or going for neighborhood walks. He enjoys staying active and would love a home where he can be included in daily adventures. A yard would be a bonus, giving him space to run around and satisfy his curious nose. Once he's had some playtime, he's happy to curl up on your lap, soak up attention, and enjoy being close to his people. He's the perfect blend of playful companion and affectionate cuddle buddy. Winston is good with kids and other dogs, making him a wonderful fit for many different types of households. He was recently neutered and is currently working on his potty training, which should continue to improve as he settles into a consistent routine. While Winston is okay in a crate, what he really wants is to be near his family. If you're looking for a loyal little shadow who will follow you from room to room, greet you with enthusiasm, and always cuddle on your lap, Winston may be your perfect match. Winston will need some patience and structure to feel safe and settled in his new home, and to master his doggy manners. As he becomes comfortable and secure, his sweet personality shines through. He has so much love to give and is ready to find a forever family that will appreciate his playful spirit and affectionate nature. He is neutered, microchipped, and fully up to date on his vaccines. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application today! All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
