Description
Dog Breed: Husky. Hi there! My name is Luna and I am 3 years old! I am the sweetest and most beautiful girl ever! I am a friendly, outgoing girl that loves my cuddles, and I enjoy chasing tennis balls but I'm not sure how to bring them back. I am here at the shelter with my sister, Blanca, and we are looking for our furever homes! However, we should not be adopted together because we have begun to exhibit littermate syndrome and we guard our food and toys from each other. I am friendly with other dogs and kids; however, if you are not familiar with resource guarding, I would not be a good fit for your home if you have small children or other dogs. I originally came from a Spanish speaking home, but I can learn commands in English too! While I may need a cat free home, I look forward to becoming your next best companion!Give the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at infoawlwarsaw if you have any questions about me! If not, stop by the shelter at 1048 S 325 E in Pierceton, IN 46562 to look at me! No appointments necessary!

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
