Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie. Adoption Fee: $700.00. Please contact Barbara (allstuffyahoo), 215-237-7400 for more information about this pet. Scroll down to see more pictures of this dog. Versace is available for adoption. She is 6 years old and weighs 13 lbs. Her adoption fee is $700.00 We immediately knew Versace was special. When she came to us, we were expecting the usually shy, timid and scared foster. Instead she jumped to be picked up and starting licking faces. She greeted all her other roomies and claimed her spot in a dog bed. We soon found out that this was not a "first impression show" but who she really is. She successfully used her pee pads that night and was quite content to sleep in her crate with the door open. We are working on sit, walking on leash and going outside. Two days later, she went for her first checkup and the staff at the vets office were all amazed at what a wonderful and cooperative patient she was. Once this happy girl is spayed and had a dental checkup, she'll be ready to find her forever home and can't wait. Versace is staying with Barbara in Ambler, PA.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
