Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Meet Spruce! Spruce is a 7-year-old neutered male Husky who came to us from the Sacramento SPCAâand it didnât take long for staff to fall in love with him. Heâs earned âstaff and volunteer favoriteâ status for a reason: heâs calm, sweet, and just genuinely easy to be around. This handsome guy is wonderfully well-mannered on leash and makes walks a breeze. Whether youâre strolling through the neighborhood or heading out for a longer adventure, Spruce stays steady, relaxed, and engaged with his person. Heâs truly one of those dogs you can just enjoy walking withâno pulling, no drama, just good company. Spruce is potty trained, not reactive, and maintains a very neutral, easygoing attitude in new situations. He gets along with the world in a calm, unbothered way that makes him a joy in many environments. When heâs not out exploring, Spruce enjoys the simple comfortsâheâs a big fan of cuddling and also loves a good game of fetch with a ball. Heâs social without being overwhelming and affectionate without being demanding. If youâre looking for a cool, steady companion who is already well-mannered and ready to fit into a home life, Spruce might just be your guy. Heâs the kind of dog who doesnât ask for muchâjust a soft place to land and someone to share his easygoing days with.

Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
