Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Currently located at our Owensboro, KY location Meet Katrina! Katrina is a beautiful 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier weighing around 60 pounds. She is fully vetted, ready for adoption, and has an adoption fee of $200. Katrina came to the shelter alongside her sister, Loyalty, after being surrendered through no fault of their own. Their previous owner was heartbroken to have to give them up, but unfortunately had no other choice. Despite having her world turned upside down, Katrina has remained sweet, gentle, and incredibly resilient. Katrina is good with kids and other dogs and is said to be housebroken, making her a wonderful fit for many different types of families. She has a calm, loving personality and an easygoing nature that makes her a joy to be around. At the shelter, Katrina can often be found quietly sitting in her outdoor kennel, peacefully watching the world go by. She doesn't ask for much—just a little love, a comfortable place to rest, and someone to call her own. Katrina is ready to leave shelter life behind and become part of a family again. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
