Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Runt is a sensitive soul who is learning how to be a dog and just needs a little extra time and patience to feel safe. He is working hard on his socialization and will thrive in a home that can read his body language and respect his boundaries. He takes a little while to warm up to new friends, but once he does, he is incredibly loyal and loving. One quirk about him is that he does not like squeaky toys. Energy Level? Medium House trained? Yes Describe how they are on a leash? Runt is a good little walker. He is not reactive to other dogs, but I would prevent new humans from approaching him, as he can be guarded around new people. Describe how they are with other dogs? Runt is great with other dogs. He will mostly ignore new dogs, but once he feels safe with them, he will initiate play. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they? He has only been around the resident dog at his foster home. Commands they know? Runt is working on basic commands. What are their favorite things? Cuddling with his favorite humans, treats, and walks. What do they need to work on? Building trust and basic commands. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone? Runt has been left at home for 8 hours at a time, twice a week, while at work. He is perfectly fine being left alone. He will sleep in his bed most of the time. Where do they sleep? In his XPen on his bed. What is their ideal home? Runt would thrive in an adult-only home that can read his body language and respect his boundaries. He takes a little while to warm up to new friends, but once he does, he is incredibly loyal and loving. The Adoption fee is $325. Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
