Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). I went on a shelter paws adventure today! I got a little nervous on my first car ride and my tummy got upset. My very understanding chaperone took me to Petsmart, so we could get me cleaned up. She said I remained calm while walking around the store with her and was very sweet when meeting everyone that stopped to say hello. The automatic door was very scary and new for me, but luckily my chaperone scooped me into her arms. For being such a sweet girl, I was rewarded with a pup cup. My chaperone says `The best thing is that after she gets comfortable, she is just a sweet girl who wants your time and attention. When I first picked her up she was nervous and maybe a bit anxious, and at the end she was just laying down and having me pet her.`

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
