Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Janice is an 11-week-old Shepherd mix with a heart as beautiful as her striking eyes, which look like they're perfectly lined with eyeliner. This sweet girl weighs about 10 pounds now and is expected to grow into a medium-to-large-sized dog. Despite a difficult start to life, Janice approaches every day with a happy-go-lucky attitude and a tail-wagging enthusiasm for whatever adventure comes next. Janice is making excellent progress with house training and is already crate trained. She sleeps quietly through the night in her crate and patiently waits each morning for someone to come greet her. She rides calmly in the car, walks cooperatively on a leash, and adapts easily to new situations. In fact, after a five-hour car ride to her foster home, Janice hopped out of her crate, happily explored her surroundings, and fit right in from day one. This delightful pup loves fetch, squeaky toys, chewing treats, and playful games of tug-of-war with her siblings. She has never met a challenge she couldn't handle, including bath time! One of her favorite ways to relax is lounging on a pool float with her foster family, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the company. Janice has a wonderfully balanced personality. She's playful when it's time for fun and calm when it's time to settle down. She isn't vocal, doesn't have separation issues, and truly seems eager to please in any situation. Her foster family describes her as simply "the sweetest little thing", a puppy who is happy to participate in whatever life has to offer. If you're looking for a loving, adaptable, and affectionate companion who will bring joy wherever she goes, Janice may be the perfect addition to your family. If you are interested in Janice, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - pethavenmn/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/ The adoption fee is $550. Overview:

The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
