Description
Dog Breed: Boston Terrier / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 350.. Meet Em & Em, EMERSON & EMILIE, 2 little mixed breed pups looking for homes. We believe these girls are Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mixes, about 8 months old and fully grown at 15-16 pounds. They are sweet and playful, full of puppy hijinks. Emilie is a bit more shy than Emerson but we suspect she will outgrow that pretty quickly once she gets into a home and gains some confidence. Emerson and Emilie do not need to stay together, in fact we believe they would be better off going to different homes where they can get plenty of individual attention and training. Both girls are ideally suited to homes where they will have another playful, friendly dog to hang out with. Please trust us when we say they are gorgeous but posing for photos was not on their to-do list when they arrived. They are nearly identical. Emerson and Emilie have been in limbo for several months. When they landed in a rural shelter, they were identified as boxers. A boxer rescue agreed to take them and they went to a temporary foster. However while they waited months for transport they did not grow into boxers. 6 month old boxer pups are around 40 lbs and these girls are topping out at 16ish pounds at 8 months. The boxer rescue backed out and they had no place to go so we said yes to these cuties. It was an easy decision, Boston Terriers are adorable! If you'd like to meet Emilie or Emilia, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Em & Em at our weekly adoption event, Saturday 11:30am-1:30pm at PetSmart Eastgate. Our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.

Breed overview
Overview:
The "Boston Huahua" is a charming and increasingly popular designer breed, a delightful cross between the spirited Boston Terrier and the feisty Chihuahua. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of both parents, this breed typically inherits a compact size, usually weighing between 8-15 pounds, with a short, smooth coat that can display a variety of colors, often mimicking the Boston Terrier's tuxedo pattern or the Chihuahua's solid hues. Physically, they often feature expressive eyes and alert ears. Temperamentally, Boston Huahuas are known for being affectionate, lively, and intelligent companions. They are generally adaptable to both apartment living and homes with yards, provided they receive sufficient exercise and mental stimulation. Their moderate energy levels and playful nature make them suitable for families, though early socialization is crucial, especially with children and other pets. Health-wise, potential concerns can include patellar luxation, dental issues, and respiratory sensitivities, inherited from their parent breeds. Regular veterinary check-ups and a balanced diet are key to their well-being, ensuring a long and happy life for these endearing little dogs.
