Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler. Hi, I'm Canelo, a 2-year-old Queensland Heeler mix with a big heart and an even bigger zest for life! I came to the shelter as a stray, but now I'm ready to find a family of my very own. I'm a sweet, energetic boy who loves staying active and spending time with my people. Like many Heelers, I'm smart, eager to learn, and happiest when I have a job to do or an adventure to share. I'm looking for a family that understands my breed and can provide the exercise, enrichment, and companionship I need to thrive. In return, I'll reward you with endless loyalty, affection, and plenty of happy tail wags. If you're looking for a fun-loving best friend to join you on life's adventures, I might be the perfect match for you!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
