Description

Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (medium coat). Murray is a handsome young Labrador Retriever with a gentle nature. He is very shy when meeting new people and new situations, but with a little patience and kindness, he begins to relax and show his sweet personality. Once he gets to know you, Murray enjoys spending time with his people and becomes much more comfortable. Murray loves going for walks and enjoys taking in all the sights and smells along the way. He also likes playing with toys and having fun with other dogs. A confident canine companion may help him continue building confidence and adjusting to new experiences. Because he can be timid at first, Murray will do best with a patient family that understands shy dogs and will give him time to settle in at his own pace. As his trust grows, so will his confidence. Murray was born on 5/21/2025, weighs about 64 pounds, and is up to date on vaccinations. He is looking for a loving, inside home where he can continue building confidence, enjoying walks and playtime, and forming strong bonds with his family. *************************************************************************** This pet comes with an implanted 24 PetWatch microchip and free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. *************************************************************************** This dog is available for adoption at the Humane Society of McCormick County is SC for an adoption fee. Overview:

The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
