Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Meet Titus!! Titus is a 3 year old, 75 pound, handsome, energetic German Shepherd with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He loves being around his people and thrives on activity, companionship, and play. Whether he’s chasing a ball, exploring outdoors, or simply being part of the family, Titus wants to be involved. He currently lives with both dogs and cats and does well with other animals. We believe he would thrive in an active home—especially one with another playful dog and owners who can provide the mental and physical stimulation that a working breed requires. Titus is housebroken, crate-trained, knows basic commands, and does well on a leash. He is incredibly loyal and affectionate, always wanting to be near his people. He can be vocal when he feels left out, but it’s simply because he loves being part of the action and spending time with those he loves. He currently lives in a home that has a 6 foot fence that he has not attempted to scale. If you are interested in adding Titus to your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at .freedomgermanshepherdrescue. Titus is being fostered outside of Jacksonville, NC.

German Shepherd Dog

A.K.A.: Alsatian, Alsatian Wolf Dog, Shepherd Dog, GSD, Deutscher Schäferhund, Schäferhund, Berger Allemand, Pastore Tedesco, Perro de Pastor Alemán, Alsatian Dog
Overview:

The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
