Description

Dog Breed: Beagle. Adoption Fee: 550. Caspian is a sweet 1-year-old Beagle who was born into a research facility. From the moment he entered the world, he knew nothing of the joys of a normal puppyhood. These dogs are typically separated from their mothers very early — sometimes as young as 5 weeks old — and raised in a sterile environment. Thanks to the tireless efforts of animal advocates and widespread public outcry, the spotlight was placed on Ridglan Farms, ultimately leading to the rescue of many dogs, including Caspian. He and the others had never felt sunshine on their backs, experienced playful cuddles, or enjoyed normal dog food. Everything is new to them: learning to chew, drink from a bowl, walk on a leash, play with toys, house train, and most importantly, trust humans. Caspian is a very loving boy who is making steady progress, but he will need time, patience, and understanding as he continues learning how to be a dog. Important Requirement: Caspian must go to a home that already has a well-balanced, existing dog. A younger, playful companion would be especially helpful for him. Applications without another dog in the home will not be considered, as these dogs learn best by following the example of a confident canine friend. Caspian is currently eating more consistently, about 60% house trained, and doing well on leash. He still experiences occasional motion sickness and has a sensitive stomach while adjusting to new foods and supplements. Because he can startle easily, he would not be suitable for homes with toddlers or young children, who can be loud and unpredictable in their movements and sounds. If you have the space in your heart and home for a special boy who is ready to learn what love and freedom truly feel like, Caspian would be so grateful. Adoption fee is $550 which helps cover all of the medical for all of the dogs in the rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and many have received further treatment for such conditions as lump removal, severe ear infections, dental cleanings, bloodwork, leg injuries, etc.. We do out of state adoptions but require a submitted application, a home visit (sometimes we cannot get this done and then we can not adopt), and the adopter must come to Las Vegas to meet the potential dog(s), possibly adopt, and then drive the dog back. Disclaimer: The SNBRF has the right to deny applications based on our adoption policies established for the consideration of the health, safety, and well-being of the dog. Beagles can have a lifespan of 15-18 years. Therefore, beagles or any other breed who are under 3 years of age will NOT be adopted to anyone over the age of 62. For individuals who are 70 years of age and older, the dogs must be 8 years or older For more information or to submit an adoption application, please visit our website at .southernnevadabeaglerescue . We are also on Facebook at .facebook/SouthernNevadaBeagleRescueFoundation . Come meet and play with our available dogs at Las Vegas area dog parks. Overview:

The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
