The same is true for these three Boot Babies! Stetson, Frye, and Roper are still looking for their forever homes. Meet Stetson. Stetson is a confident little guy with a big personality - very fitting for his name. He currently has one ear that pops up from time to time, and one that is still trying to decide. What a character. He is confident on different surfaces and is learning to use the doggy treadmill though he is still trying to figure out why the ground moves beneath his feet. Stairs are no issue, though. He has been introduced to the resident dogs and was very accepting of his new friends. Stetson is excelling at luring into training positions such as down and he is working on recall, eye contact, and harnessing his solid food drive. He also obeys a verbal “sit” and is learning markers “yes” and “good.” This puppy will live up to his name and become legendary with the right adoptive family to continue his training! PS Stetson would like to request crinkle toys and permission to carry his sibling’s muzzle. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
