Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Stone is an approximately 2-year-old Pit Bull who came to us as a stray alongside another dog. While we don't know much about his past, we've quickly learned that he's a fun-loving, active boy who is ready to find a family of his own. One of Stone's favorite things in the world is playing fetch! If there's a ball involved, he's all in. He loves having a job to do and enjoys spending time outdoors running, chasing, and bringing his favorite toy back for another throw. Because Stone arrived with another dog and we are still learning about his preferences, a dog-to-dog introduction will be required with any current dogs in the home prior to adoption to help ensure a good match for everyone. Stone is looking for a home that will give him plenty of exercise, playtime, and love. If you're searching for an energetic companion who is always up for a game of fetch, Stone may be the perfect fit! All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (if over 2 years old), vaccinated, dewormed, flea and tick treated, microchipped and more before adoption. Our adoption policies include: Application, Vet Reference, Landlord approval & Criminal Background Check. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the dog of your choice. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
