She is playful in a soft, easygoing way and enjoys human attention. She is also friendly with other dogs. With cats, she is not a match—she may snap or growl. Curious, calm, and gentle-natured. Pixie enjoys simple comforts and her favorite toy is her pink plastic house. Pixie previously had a mammary gland tumor that was surgically removed by the shelter. The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard. Temperamentally, Dachshunds are known for being courageous, curious, and often quite playful, with a surprising amount of energy.
