Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Riley came to us with her 2 siblings, Reba and Riya. They all look totally different. Mom is about 25 pounds full grown and we don't have any idea what Dad is. She is very friendly, loves people contact and is potty pad trained. She would do well with other dogs, cats, and kids too. She loves her toys and to sit in your lap. We think she will be a medium sized dog when grown. She already seems very smart for her age too. If you would like more information, please contact our shelter at 870-269-5200 or go to our website at schspets and complete an adoption application and someone will contact you for a meet and greet.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
