Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Addie is smart, energetic, sweet, playful, quirky and loving. She is a 4yo Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix. Unfortunately, she suddenly started attacking our cats unprovoked over the past year. She also has an issue with resource guarding, but this has been improving due to positive reinforcement. She has not been around many children, but she once nipped at a younger child running when she was 1yr due to her herding instinct. A friend of ours provoked an unsupervised level 3 bite from her in November 2024, and we went through reactive dog and in home training after. Despite this, she is occasionally still reactive, but she has not bitten anyone since. We are concerned with our cats' safety, and the issue of us starting a family soon. Addie loves to show off all her tricks, play fetch, walk, run, swim, and cuddle. She would excel in agility or any working job. She would thrive in a home with people that love to stay active and can provide Addie with mental stimulation (no young children, maybe another dog). All her things included (crate, toys, a couple bags of food and e-collar if desired). **** Breed: Border Collie & Australian Shepard **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2199345&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
